The BWF Fire Door Alliance is the leading authority on fire door safety. A fire door is a safety device engineered to save lives and property. The correct specification, supply, fitting and maintenance are critical and the responsibility of each and every person in the process. It’s only when a fire breaks out that the consequences of poorly manufactured or fitted fire doors are known.
The BWF Fire Door Alliance (formerly the BWF-CERTIFIRE Scheme) was established in 1997 by leading fire door manufacturers to bring the membership management, lobbying and promotion skills of the British Woodworking Federation to support the promotion of third-party certification of fire doors and fire doorsets.
As a membership scheme operated and managed by the British Woodworking Federation, the BWF Fire Door Alliance vision is that every fire door / fire doorset sold in the UK meets required standards through its service life.
At the heart of the BWF Fire Door Alliance is third-party certification. Our mission is to ensure that only third-party certified fire doors and fire doorsets, installed by certificated companies, are used in the UK.
The BWF Fire Door Alliance extends the work of the BWF-CERTIFIRE Scheme to now include not just the market leaders in fire door manufacturing, but also in converting fire doors, ironmongery, intumescent seals and glazing systems, and, more recently, merchants. This expansion was done to promote best practice across the entire industry.
Membership is currently only open to companies holding third-party certification under either the Warringtonfire CERTIFIRE or BM TRADA Q-Mark schemes.
If you are a manufacturer of fire doors, fire doorsets or supporting components and believe that third-party certification is the only way to guarantee product performance, then why not join us.
The principal aims of the BWF Fire Door Alliance are as follows:
