The BWF reminds all members that minimum wage rates are due to increase from 1 October 2009:
– Adult minimum wage rate (workers aged 22 and over) will increase from £5.73 to £5.80 an hour
– Minimum wage rate for 18-21 year olds will increase from £4.77 to £4.83 an hour
– Minimum wage rate for 16-17 year olds will increase from £3.53 to £3.57 an hour
– The rate for the accommodation offset will increase to £31.57 per week (£4.51 per day). In response to a recommendation from the Low Pay Commission (LPC) the Government is also set to extend the adult rate to 21 year olds. This will be implemented from October 2010.
