Risk Assessment – Update on Lord Gill Report

Further to our earlier new alert on the Lord Gill Inquiry Report into the ICL Plastics Explosion which focused largely on the supply and use of LPG, the recommendation in relation to risk assessment appears to have been cast more broadly and as the consultation document points out any amendment to related legislation could have potential repercussions for risk assessment legislation as a whole.  There are other recommendations, for example in relation to building regulations and inspection that could also have a wider impact than on premises with LPG installations. HSE is therefore attempting to make stakeholders aware of this particular facet of an otherwise focused consultation and would encourage members to provide responses on these more general recommendations as well.
