Fire doors are an important element in the fire safety of a building, but too often everyone assumes that someone else will ensure their quality and performance. If those involved in the specification, purchase, installation, inspection and maintenance of a fire door recognised the consequence of their choices and actions, then all fire doors would do their job – save lives and save property.
Third party certification tests and verifies a fire door's design, performance, manufacturing process and quality assurance from manufacture to installation.
Testing a fire door, at a UKAS approved test facility, to BS476 part 22 or EN 1634, is the only sure way to prove that it is going to fulfil its rating.
